DICKINSON, N.D. – The Comet men participated in the Dickinson State Classic this weekend in Dickinson, ND to take on Rocky Mountain College and Dickinson State University. The Comets kicked off the weekend against Rocky Mountain College and were defeated 95-60.
MSU dug themselves into a hole early in the game with a 45-18 halftime deficit. The Comets shot just 8-for-31 (26%) in the first half compared to 49% (17-for-35) from the Bears.
The second half of the game was much more even with MSU's offense coming alive to score 42 points in the second 20 minutes.
The Bears had great balance offensively with five players hitting double figures including two playing going over 20 points.
MSU was led by
David Hicks' 17 points on offense. DJ Carroll and
Charlton Wilson followed Hicks with 13 points each. Wilson led MSU on the glass with eight rebounds in the game. Carroll followed with five rebounds for MSU.
The Comets were out-shot in the game 55% to 38%, although in the second half the team shot 50% from the field in the second half.
The Bears won the battle on the boards 46-34 with Tyree Anderson leading RMC with nine rebounds.
The biggest advantage the Bears had in the game
came from beyond the arch. The Bears connected on 10-of-23 three point shots compared to MSU going 2-for-17 from three-point land.
