Carroll's double-double lifts Comets over Oglala 76-53 in home victory

Carroll goes for 21 points, 10 rebounds in win.

MAYVILLE, ND – The Comet men were looking to get back on the right track on tonight's game after a close loss to Minnesota-Morris on Friday night. DJ Carroll made sure that was the case tonight as the junior forward had 21 points, 10 rebounds and two thunderous dunks in the Comets 76-53 victory.

Carroll shot the ball well going 8-for-11 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He and Michael Lindsay led the team in rebounds with 10 each.

Carroll wasn't the only Comet to put up points, however. Josh DeWitt came off the bench for the second night in a row and provided a scoring punch the team needed. DeWitt scored 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 3-for-7 at the three point line. DeWitt also made all three of his free throws in the game.

MSU did get some balanced scoring from their other players as well. Lindsay finished with eight points to go along with his 10 rebounds. Charlton Wilson, Alex Herman, and David Hicks each scored seven points. Sean Norton and David Olson each added three for MSU.

Oglala kept the score within reach in the first half as the Comets led 46-35 at the break. The Comet defense came out much more intense in the second half, holding Oglala to just 18 points on 7-for-29 (.241) shooting . MSU shot a clean 50% from the floor (25-for-50) in the game.

Mayville State (5-6, 0-0) will look to get back up to a .500 record tomorrow when they host Oglala one more time at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
