Mayville State University head baseball coach
Scott Berry has announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend Mayville State University and play for the Comets beginning in the fall of 2011.
The group of signees includes Jace Ingebretson (Mayville, ND - MayPort CG HS), Dillon Lundin (Clarissa, MN - Northland CC), Daniel Moore (Colbert, WA - Mt. Spokane HS) and Andy Naas (Thompson, ND - Thompson HS).
“All of our signees really bring in a lot of talent and they will certainly fit into our program. They are all very successful in the classroom and their athletic accomplishments speak for themselves," Berry said. “Each of these athletes developed a solid relationship with assistant coach Pratt and ultimately they felt Mayville State University was a good fit for their needs."
Jace Ingebretson - Mayville - MayPort CG HS
Ingebretson led his team to the North Dakota State Tourney this past week by helping MayPort CG go undefeated in tournament play. Ingebretson's 2011 season was tremendous where he batted .386 with19 runs, 17 hits, 7 doubles, 11 RBIs and a .545 slugging percentage. On the mound he pitched 35 innings with 47 K's, 13 BB, a 3.00 ERA, and a 3-2 record.
“Jace will add depth on the mound with his pitch to contact approach," Berry said.
Dillon Lundin - Clarissa - Northland CC
Lundin is a sophomore who is coming off a tremendous freshman campaign where he was named to the All MCAC Division and All State Teams. In 2010 he batted .400, 85 AB, 21 R, 34 H,20 RBIs, 8 doubles and 9 HR hitting four in MCAC State Tourney. In 2011 he batted .269, 67 AB, 15 R, 18 H, 8 RBIs and 2 HR in a limited schedule due to weather.
“Dillon is a dynamic kid who has an exceptional glove and some pop in his bat," Pratt said.
Daniel Moore -Colbert - Mt. Spokane HS
Moore is coming off a great junior campaign in the 2010 season. Moore hit .391, 52 Hits, 36 runs, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR, 31 RBIs and 17 SB. On the mound he pitched 80 innings with 65 K's, a 1.69 Whip, a 3.24 ERA and a 9-5 record.
“Daniel is following teammate Spencer Mallonee from Mt. Spokane HS and might have a shot at being a two-way performer for us," Pratt said.
Andy Naas - Thompson - Thompson HS.
Naas set the foundation for a great 2011 season with an outstanding summer of American Legion baseball. In American Legion Naas hit .530 with 35 RBI's, a .885 slugging percentage and 5 home runs. In 2011 he hit .469 with 23 Hits, 4 doubles, 14 runs, 11 RBI's and 12 SB. On the mound in 31 innings Naas had 40 K's, 24 BB, a 2.69 ERA and a 3-2 record.
“Andy like all of our North Dakota recruits will be great additions to Comet baseball," Pratt stated.
The Comets finished the 2011 season with a 27-13 record winning the DAC Regular Season Championship before falling in DAC Conference Tournament Championship.
