After a huge win at Valley City State on Friday night, the Comets travelled to Jamestown College on Saturday afternoon for their second conference contest in as many days. The Comets came up short against the Jimmies, falling three games to zero to end the weekend with one win and one loss.
The first game was the closest for the Comets as MSU battled to within two points of winning the opening set. In the end Jamestown won by a score of 26-24 and used that momentum to propel themselves to a 25-15 win in game number two and a 25-10 win in the third and final game.
Ashley Haines led the Comets with seven kills in the match, followed by Kacie Fortmann with six kills and Nicky Carrison with three kills. Ariana Odegard did the setup work with 21 assists in 70 attempts.
Ashley Torgusson led the Comets defense with nine digs in the match, followed by Kacie Fortmann's six digs and Emily Liljestrand's five digs.
The Comets are now 4-21 overall on the 2010 season and 2-9 in Dakota Athletic Conference play. They will host conference foes Minot State University and Dickinson State University this weekend at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville.
MSU will play Minot on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Comets take on Dickinson on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
