The Mayville State University football team picked up its first win of the 2010 season on Saturday, defeating Trinity Bible College 31-0.
MSU's defense played well throughout the entire game and was earned its first shutout of the season. The Comets only allowed 88 yards of total offense and scored four takeaways with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. The Mayville State defense also accounted for a score in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game.
"The guys played hard and fought the whole game," head coach Nathan Chin said. "Offensively we were able to run the football which was a big positive and the defense played very well pitching a shut out."
The Comets hope to keep the momentum going into next weekend's conference opener with Minot State University. MSU will travel to Minot, N.D. to take on the Beavers at Herb Parker Stadium on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
