The Comet volleyball team took the road this past weekend for a two day tournament in Forest City, IA. The Comets took on Briar Cliff, Waldorf, Buena Vista, and Mount Marty.
In the first match Briar Cliff got out to a quick 2-0 lead. The Comets battled back to win set three 25-16. Briar Cliff responded by winning set 4 defeating the Comets 3-1 (19-25, 17-25, 25-16, 22-25). The Comets were led by
Remington Werner. The freshman from Hector, MN had a game high 14 kills.
Josette Glatt had 9 kills and
Maggie Maroney chipped in 7.
In the second match the Comets took on Waldorf College. The Comets couldn't get it going and fell in 3 straight sets (19-25, 23-25, 21-25). MSU was led by
Josette Glatt who had 8 kills.
Remington Werner and
Nikki Roholt chipped in 5 kills for the Comets.
In the first match of day two the Comets found themselves paired up against Buena Vista University. Mayville State found their rhythm winning in three straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-17). The Comets were led by
Josette Glatt who had a game high 14 kills.
Nikki Roholt added 8 kills and
Laura Kolness finished with 37 assists.
In the final match of the tournament the Comets took on Mount Marty College. MSU took care of business in 3 straight sets (25-16, 27-25, 29-27). Mayville State was led by
Josette Glatt who had a game high 13 kills.
Maggie Maroney also had a nice game for the Comets finishing with 11 kills and
Brittany Olson added 10 kills.
Mayville State will hit the road one last time this regular season as they will travel to Ellendale, ND to take on Trinity Bible College on October 24th. Game time is set for 7 pm.
