Comets Lose to Jimmies on the Road

Jimmies claim a 3-0 sweep despite 24 digs from Katie Wangberg Wednesday evening

JAMESTOWN, ND – The Comets and Jimmies came into Wednesday night's match as the top two teams in the newly formed North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). The Jimmies kept the top spot with a 3-0 sweep of Mayville State (25-15, 25-17, 27-25).

The loss prevented MSU (14-14; 5-2) from building on a big victory over Concordia College on Monday as the Comets fell to 14-14 on the year and 5-2 in NSAA play. Jamestown, meanwhile, improved to 21-6 overall and 7-0 in league action.

Katie Wangberg kept the Comets engaged in the match through the night as the junior recorded a match-high 24 digs. Wangberg continues her impressive play in her first year in Comet blue.

Sarah Becker and Janna Johnson led the Jimmies with 16 kills each. The pair proved to be very effective as attackers for the Jimmies.

The Comets found most of their success throughout the night with Kaitlyn Timain and Josette Glatt recording 14 (seven each) of the team's 28 kills.

The Comets return to the road this weekend, traveling to Forest City, Iowa to face Cardinal Stritch, Buena Vista, Waldorf College and York College playing four matches in two days.
