Comet volleyball picks up two NSAA wins on the road

September 20-21, 2013:  After a tough loss to the University of Jamestown the Comet volleyball team had a chance to redeem themselves this weekend in South Dakota and they did just that. The team picked up a pair of 3-0 victories over Dakota State University and Presentation College on the road.

Dakota State
Madison, S.D. – The Comets took care of business against the Trojans quickly as they won 25-16, 25-13, and 25-18 for their first victory in the NSAA. The Comets were led in kills by Remington Werner with 11, assists by Katie Wangberg with 29, and digs by Paige O'Connor who finished with 15.

The Comet defense played great in this match holding the Trojans to an .oo9 attack percentage as they picked up 55 digs and had 12 blocks. Kyla Bugner led with four block assists in the match.

Presentation College
The second match-up of the weekend road trip was more of the same as the Comets quickly disposed of Presentation College winning 25-16, 25-17, and 25-15. Josette Glatt led the way with 10 kills on 12 attempts (.750 attack pct). She was followed by Bugner who was 8-11 (.727 attack pct) on attacks. Wangberg picked up 19 assists in the game and was one of three Comets with double digit digs in the match.

O'Connor led the team with 12, followed by Kelsey Melsa with 11 and Wangberg picked up 10 of her own. Defense was again key as the Comets forced Presentation into 21 attack errors on 34-of-105 attempts (.124 pct.).

Mayville State University (8-12, 2-1 NSAA) have now won five out of six and prepare for a match-up on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Valley City, North Dakota as they take on the Vikings at the sports bubble.
