The Comets Volleyball team traveled to Madison, SD to battle Dakota State for a berth in the NSAA Championship game. After falling twice to the Trojans during the regular season, Mayville State reversed that trend when it counted the most.

The Comets took a slim lead in Set 1 and maintained it throughout most of the game. Dakota State managed to pull even at 23, but kills by Cassie Ziemer and Josette Glatt slammed the door on any comeback attempt giving the Comets a 25-23 win. The Trojans grabbed the early lead in Set 2 and never relinquished it, eventually winning 25-17. Winning Set 3 would be critical in pulling off the upset and Mayville State did just that behind a host of Dakota State errors to win 25-19. The Comets just needed one more set to continue their journey, and they responded with one of their best overall performances of the season. Using 19 kills versus only 3 errors, the Comets rolled over Dakota State and into the NSAA Championship game with a 25-18 victory.

Josette Glatt dominated the net with 20 kills, followed closely by Remington Werner (15) and Kaitlyn Timian (14). Katie Wangberg fell one kill short of a triple-double, logging 9 kills, 43 assists and 25 digs. Paige O'Connor also recorded 25 digs, and Katie Kolness added 15 more.

The Comets will face Jamestown for the NSAA Title and an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament. The game will be hosted by Jamestown this Saturday November 15th Friday November 14th @ 7pm.
