The Comets Women's Basketball team traveled to South Dakota for games against Ogala College and Dakota Wesleyan.
The Comets opened the weekend against Ogala and quickly established their tempo, jumping out to a 44-31 lead. The Comets continued to pour it on in the second half and blew out the Bravehearts 97-65. The Comets shot over 50% from the field and also canned 8 3-pointers.13 Comets landed in the scoring column, with
Jenna Lundon leading the way with 21 points and 5 steals.
Alicia Nopola hit 4-5 from the field and chipped in 12 points.
Brook Hildre and
Destinie Villebrun each grabbed 6 rebounds, and
Liza Hoglo and
Joelle Ertl dished out 7 assists apiece.
On Saturday the Comets took on the tournament host, Dakota Wesleyan. The Tigers proved to be much stiffer competition for the Comets, as they raced out to a 47-20 halftime lead. The Comets offense started to get untracked in the second half, but the Tigers did not allow the Comets to get much closer, as they protected their home court with a 88-70 victory. Lundon led the Comets in scoring once again with 14 points, followed by
Alyssa Lentner with 10. Hoglo brought down 11 rebounds, and Etrl and Lentner each collected 3 steals.
The weekend split evened the Comets record at 2-2. The Comets return to the Lewy Lee for a weekend series against Silver Lake College.
