The Comets Women's Basketball team traveled to Morris, MN to battle the Cougars. The Comets spotted the Cougars the first five points, then not only rallied but expanded their lead to double digits. At halftime the score was Mayville State 37, UM-Morris 24. It was the Cougars' turn to rally, as they managed to tie the game twice in the second half, but the Comets finished the game with an 18-5 surge to win 69-56. The Comets dominated the glass, grabbing 54 rebounds with 24 coming on the offensive end. Mayville State also had a decisive edge at the free throw line, hitting 20 of 29 attempts while limiting the Cougars to only 12 attempts.
4 Comets reached double figures in scoring, led by
Liza Hoglo with 16, including a 12-16 performance at the free throw line.
Jenna Lundon hit 4 triples on her way to 15 points,
Andi Gayner added 11 and hauled down 18 rebounds and also forced 3 steals.
Joelle Ertl chipped in 10 points while dishing out 5 assists.
The win boosts the Comets record to 8-3. Mayville State heads north to Grand Forks to take on the University of North Dakota on 12/16.
