Comets WBB Outlast UM-Morris

The Comets Women's Basketball team was back in action the the Lewy Lee against the UM-Morris Cougars Tuesday night.

The Comets got out to a very slow start, as they misfired on 15 of their first 19 shots and fell behind by 12. Mayville State then went on a 16-4 run in the final 5 minutes to tie the game at 32 after 20 minutes of play. The second half was a back and forth affair, as there were 7 ties and multiple lead changes. The Comets executed down the stretch and scored the last 7 points of the game to win 77-71. Mayville State shot 14 for 16 from the free throw line in the second half, which proved to be decisive.

Liza Hoglo had another strong game, as she led the Comets with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Jenna Lundon nailed 6 three pointers and scored 20, Joelle Ertl and Andi Gayner each added 12 points, and Kendra Heier grabbed 10 rebounds. 

The victory boosts Mayville State's record to 5-3. The Comets travel to Mankato, MN to face Bethany Lutheran on Friday and then host Johnson & Wales on Saturday.
