Comets VB Race Past Valley City in Home Opener

After opening with 15 games on the road, the Comet Volleyball hosted their first match of the season and rewarded their fans with a straight set victory over Valley City State.

The Comets opened fast, using a 14-4 run in the middle of Game 1 to handily win the first game 25-11. Strong offensive and defensive play at the net was the theme of Game 2, as the Comets never trailed in winning 25-15. The Vikings would not go quietly, as they took a 13-8 lead in Game 3. The Comets slammed the door on any hope of a comeback by scoring the next 10 points and finished off the sweep with a 17-4 spurt, winning 25-17.

Katie Wangberg contributed 5 Kills, 26 Assists and 15 Digs for a strong overall performance, and Kaitlyn Timian recorded 8 Kills and 2 Blocks.

The win gets the Comets overall record back to .500 and boosts their Conference record to 2-1. Their home stand continues against Waldorf College on Friday, September 26th at 7:00 pm.
