After opening with 15 games on the road, the Comet Volleyball hosted their first match of the season and rewarded their fans with a straight set victory over Valley City State.
The Comets opened fast, using a 14-4 run in the middle of Game 1 to handily win the first game 25-11. Strong offensive and defensive play at the net was the theme of Game 2, as the Comets never trailed in winning 25-15. The Vikings would not go quietly, as they took a 13-8 lead in Game 3. The Comets slammed the door on any hope of a comeback by scoring the next 10 points and finished off the sweep with a 17-4 spurt, winning 25-17.Â
Katie Wangberg contributed 5 Kills, 26 Assists and 15 Digs for a strong overall performance, and
Kaitlyn Timian recorded 8 Kills and 2 Blocks.Â
The win gets the Comets overall record back to .500 and boosts their Conference record to 2-1. Their home stand continues against Waldorf College on Friday, September 26th at 7:00 pm.
