Coming off two consecutive road victories, the Comets Football team looked to pick up their first Conference win of the season against Dickinson State.
Dickinson State struck first on a Jesse Carney 11 yard touchdown run. The Comets were unable to move the ball against a stout Bluehawk defense, but the Comets defense held until late in the 2nd quarter. Both Carney and Myren Moore scored running TDs, and Dickinson went into halftime with a 22-0 lead. The Comets got on the board early in the 3rd quarter, as
Lance Jackson was able to break away and score on a 32 yard touchdown pass from
John Poppe. Unfortunately, the punishing Bluehawks run game wore down the Comet defense and pulled away for a 43-6 victory.
On offense, Jackson had 7 catches for 66 yards and the lone touchdown. Defensively,
Travis Ahlgren made 15 tackles,
Jacob Grosz collected 11 tackles and a sack, and
Emmanuel Raspberry recovered a fumble and picked off a pass.
The loss drops the Comets overall record to 2-3 and 0-3 in the NSAA. The Comets are back at home this Saturday for a Homecoming game against Presentation, game time is 230 pm.
