#23 Comets WBB's Comeback Falls Short Against #13 Jamestown

#23 Mayville State hosted #13 Jamestown in a battle for North Star supremacy. Both teams' defense locked down the other, after 10 minutes Jamestown was up 9-5. Both offenses got untracked later in the first half, with the Jimmies maintaining their 4 point lead 33-29. Jamestown opened the second half with a 20-6 run and got the lead up to over 20. The Comets chipped away and trimmed the deficit to 10, but Jamestown hit 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Comets 76-63. Turnovers really hurt the Comets as they committed 27 for the game.

Andi Gayner scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Jenna Lundon contributed 14 points, and Liza Hoglo scored 12, all in the first half.

The loss drops the Comets record to 11-5, 0-2 in the NSAA. Mayville State hits the road this week and they play Presentation College on Wednesday and Dakota State on Saturday.
