The Comets Women's Basketball team traveled to South Dakota in search of their first conference win against Presentation College.
The shots weren't falling in the first half, as the Comets shot under 30% in the first half including 4/21 from deep. Their sterling performance from the free throw line (14-18) kept them within striking distance at halftime, down 38-45. In the second half, the Comets caught fire from the 3 point line and clawed their way back to a one possession game only to have the Saints go on a run of their own to expand the lead back to 7-10 points. Mayville State finally tied the game up with 2:20 to play, The teams exchanged points and with 6 seconds left, the game was tied at 90 and Mayville State had the ball.
Jenna Lundon came down and hit her EIGHTH 3 pointer as time expired to give the Comets the win!!Â
Lundon set new career highs in scoring and 3 pointers with 33 and 8 respectively.
Karleigh Weber came off the bench to add 5 treys and 23 points,
Kendra Heier hit 15 points,
Andi Gayner added 13 and
Alyssa Lentner pulled down 9 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.
The win boosts the Comets record to 12-5, 1-2 in the North Star. Mayville State returns to South Dakota on Saturday to face Dakota State.
