The #25 Comets Women's Basketball team opened their 2015 schedule with the same opponent as they ended their 2014 home schedule, the Johnson & Wales Wildcats. The Comets were looking for a similar result as well, since the previous encounter was a 76-70 victory.
The first half made one wonder if the Comets were playing in Colorado instead of the Lewy Lee, as Johnson & Wales hit 10 3 pointers while Mayville State only shot 37%. As a result, the Wildcats held a 44-35 lead at the half. Things returned to normal in the second half, as the Comets scored the first 8 points of the half and did not stop there. Mayville State scored 56 points in the half and the road-weary Wildcats could only put up 25, and the Comets cruised to a 91-69 victory.
Liza Hoglo apparently decided double-doubles were too mundane, as she managed to record a triple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists!
Jenna Lundon hit 5 triples on her way to 24 points and
Joelle Ertl added 18 points, 5 assists and 2 steals.
The Comets are now on a 5 game win streak, and travel to Wisconsin Wednesday 1/7 to face Viterbo University @ 5pm.
