Box Score The #24 Comets Women's Basketball team looked to stay unbeaten and pick up a significant win against last year's National Finalist and #4 ranked Concordia Bulldogs. However, the Bulldogs full-court pressure and hot shooting were too much for the Comets in a 109-79 defeat.

Mayville State's depth will be tested the next few weeks while Andi Gayner recovers from a wrist injury, so the Comets opened with a "smallball" lineup to combat the Bulldog's full-court pressure. Concordia's press was still effective as the Comets committed 7 turnovers in the first quarter. Combined with the Bulldog's sharp passing and hot shooting, they were able to pull away to a nine point lead after 10 minutes, 27-19. The second quarter was even rougher on the Comets, as the Bulldogs poured in 34 points while holding Mayville State to 15, opening up a 61-33 game at half. The Comets were able to stay even with Concordia in the 2nd half, but the damage had already been done as the Bulldogs finished with a 109-79 win.

The Comets shot the ball effectively, scoring 62 points on 61 shots while going 17/20 from the free throw line, but were forced into 27 turnovers. Jenna Lundon poured in 26 points to lead all scorers, Liza Hoglo added 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Joelle Ertl and Karleigh Weber each chipped in 12 points. 

The loss drops Mayville State's record to 4-1. The Comets look to rebound against Doane College on Saturday, tipoff is at 1100.
