After defeating Valley City on Wednesday, the Comets Volleyball team looked to advance in the NSAA Tournament against the North's top seed Jamestown. The Jimmies did not give the Comets a chance to pull off the upset, winning in straight sets.
Mayville State stuck with Jamestown early in the first set, tying the set at 10. The Jimmies pulled away after that, going on a 15-5 run to take the first set 25-15. The Comets rushed out to an 11-5 lead in the second set, only to see Jamestown eventually regain the lead at 17-16 and finished strong in winning 25-19. Thwarting any hopes of a comeback, the Jimmies jumped out to an early lead and kept the pressure on throughout the set, ultimately winning 25-16.
Remington Werner and
Jordan Johnson each tallied 6 kills for the match,
Megan Kolness racked up 23 assists, and
Sydney Boom (11) and
Paige O'Connor (10) each reached double figures in digs.
The Comets finish out their season at 12-23.
