Box Score The Comets Women's Basketballteam hosted Waldorf on Saturday in a NSAA matchup. Crisp ball movement and potent shooting allowed the Comets to pull away with a 92-57 victory.
The Warriors were able to take an early lead with some hot shooting of their own, but the Comets ripped off a 15-2 run to take a 20-16 lead after the first quarter. Mayville's defense stepped up in the second, holding Waldorf to only seven points while notching another 20 points, which boosted their lead to 40-23 at halftime. The Comets offense took over in the second half, shooting a sizzling 59% from the field enroute to 52 points. Mayville State connected on 7 3 pointers and also went 13-14 from the free throw line. The Comets also racked up 21 assists in the game, culminating in a 92-57 victory.
Andi Gayner led five Comets in double figures with 24 points.
Jenna Lundon added 19 points,
Liza Hoglo notched her 4th double double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds,
Alexia Olson also scored 16,
Joelle Ertl chipped in 12 and
Karleigh Weber dished out 5 assists.
For the Warriors, Ameh Ogbemudia scored 17 points and Samantha Birkes contributed 11 points and 6 assists.
The Comets are now 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in the NSAA. The Warriors drop to 1-8 overall, 0-4 in conference.
