Box Score The Comets Men's Basketball team looked to even their record in the NSAA when they hosted the #15 Waldorf Warriors on Saturday. After falling behind in the first half, the Comets almost pulled off the upset but fell 72-70.
In the first half, the Warriors used a lethal combination of strong 3 point shooting and stout interior defense to take a 40-29 lead. Waldorf connected on 8 of 16 3 point shots, and held the Comets to only 5 of 16 inside the paint while racking up a 22-14 rebounding advantage. The Comets continued to attack the paint and the shots started to fall in the second half, wiping out the Warriors lead halfway through the 2nd half and knotting the score at 50. The game stayed tight to the end with multiple ties and lead changes. The Comets were clinging to a 1 point lead when Waldorf's Erik Brewer hit his 6 trey of the night, this one with 2 seconds left to allow the Warriors to escape with a 72-70 win. Mayville State shot 56% from the field in the second half, but the Warriors maintained their advantage in rebounding 41-26.

For Waldorf, Brewer led four Warriors in double figures with 18 points while also adding 3 blocks, June Prowell notched 12 points, Tyler Parrish contributed 11, and Kaden Verdin scored 10 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.Â
The Comets are now 5-5 overall, 0-2 in conference, Waldorf 6-2, 1-1 in NSAA play.
