The Comets Women's Basketball team traveled back down to South Dakota Saturday to battle the Dakota State Trojans.
The game was tight throughout, as the lead was exchanged 15 times and neither game ever got ahead by more than 7. Both teams shot around 40% from the field, Dakota State had more attempts but the Comets got to the free throw line more. The rebounding (MSU 41, DaSU 40) and turnovers (MSU 18, DaSU 19) were virtually equal as well. The Comets used a 6-0 run with with 3 minutes left in the game to open up a slight custion and went 3-4 from the line to seal the victory 67-64.
Jenna Lundon hit 5 3-pointers on her way to 17 points,
Joelle Ertl added 16 points,
Andi Gayner contributed 12, and
Alyssa Blair recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Karleigh Weber also dished out 7 assists.
The win boosts the Comets' record to 14-5 and 2-2 in the North Star. The Comets start a 4 game homestand against Valley City on Wednesday, tipoff @ 530.
