The Comets Men's Basketball team looked to even their conference record and sweep their long homestand against the Presentation College Saints.
Mayville State could not buy a bucket in the first half, as they only shot 36% from the field, including a 1/7 performance from 3 point land. Presentation only managed 38% for the half, but managed to drain 5 treys enroute to a 32-27 halftime lead. The Comets heated up in the 2nd half, and used a 19-4 run over a six minute span to storm ahead by 11. After that, anytime the Saints tried to come back, the Comets had an answer. 5/6 on free throws and a couple of breakaway layups over the last 90 seconds sealed an 82-69 victory.
Chuck Robinson and
Jamal Branco shared Comet scoring honors with 15 apiece. Robinson also pulled down 8 boards and 2 blocks while Branco added 4 assists.
Michael Lindsay recorded 14 points and collected 7 rebounds.
The win gives Mayville State a 16-9 record overall, and now 4-4 in conference play. This win wraps up the regular season home schedule as the Comets travel to Valley City on Wednesday, tipoff @ 730.
