The Comets Men's Basketball team traveled to Jamestown Saturday in search of a top 3 seed and a home playoff game.
The first half of the game was close throughout, the Jimmies used an 8-0 run with 3:30 to go to boost their lead at halftime to 7, 35-28. Mayville State only shot 30% from the field in the first half, but only committed 2 turnovers to stay within striking distance. The second half was close throughout, as there were 8 lead changes and 5 ties. The biggest lead either team in the last 18 minutes was 4 points. The Jimmies were able to make just enough plays to hold a slim lead down the stretch and escaped with a 70-67 win.
Chuck Robinson notched his NSAA-leading tenth double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds and added 2 blocked shots, followed closely by
A.B. Najee with 17.
Darnell Landon and
Michael Lindsay also reached double figures with 10 apiece.
The loss drops the Comets' overall record to 17-10, 5-5 in conference. Mayville State will travel to Presentation College on Thursday 2/26 to open the NSAA tournament, tipoff @ 700pm.
