The Comets Men's Basketball team returned to the Lewy Lee fieldhouse still in search of their first NSAA win, and looked to get it against their long time rivals, the Valley City State Vikings.
A.B. Najee opened the scoring with a 3 pointer, and the Comets never trailed. The Comets shot a blistering 57% from the field while holding the Vikings to only a 7/22 performance. Only Valley's 13/15 advantage from the free throw line kept them within striking distance. The Comets continued their hot shooting in the second half (58%), never let the lead dip below 8 points and secured their first conference win 86-75.
Chuck Robinson led the Comets with 22, followed closely by
Jamal Branco with 19 (6/7 from the field, 7/8 from the line) and Najee with 18 (4/4 from deep).
Michael Lindsay added 11 points,
Jordan Villebrun hauled down 9 rebounds and
Josh DeWitt handed out 5 assists.
The win boosts the Comets' record to 13-9, 1-4 in the North Star. Dickinson State comes into town Saturday night, tipoff @ 600.
