Comet WBB Unable to Get Untracked Against Valley City

The Comets Women's Basketball team traveled to Valley City Saturday to face the Vikings in a NSAA Semifinal game. The winner would travel to Jamestown Tuesday for a shot at the National Tournament.

The Comets' shooting woes carried over to this game, as they were unable to get anything going from three-point land. The Vikings used a 12-0 in the middle of the first half to break open the game and maintained that edge at halftime 42-30. Mayville State was able to get to the free throw line 16 times in the first half to keep the game in reach. The Comets were able to get the lead into single digits a couple times in the second half, but could never get on a roll offensively. Valley City was able to close out the game 80-62. The Comets had another tough night from the field, including only 2/28 from deep, but continued to be aggressive to the rim enroute to a 22/30 performance from the free throw line.

Andi Gayner led the Comets with 22 points and also pulled down 17 rebounds. Liza Hoglo also reached double figures with 18 and added 17 boards as well.

The Comets finish their season with an 18-8 overall record.
