Box Score The Comets Volleyball team played their 3rd ranked opponent in as many weeks when they faced #19 Jamestown. Jamestown's balanced attack proved to be too much for the Comets as the Jimmies won in three sets.
Set one opened with both teams attacking well. Some timely blocks in the middle of the set allowed the Jimmies to stretch out to a six point lead, and the Comets could get no closer as they dropped the first set 25-19. In Set two, Jamestown collected four aces, which were too many free points for Mayville to give up as the Jimmies cruised to a 25-17 win.
Stephany Wold single-handedly kept the Comets in set three, shredding Jamestown for nine kills. However, Jamestown's attack was firing on all cyclinders as they racked up 17 kills on only three errors as they completed the sweep 25-20.
Wold's 14 kills led all players and
Megan Kolness collected 30 assists.
For the Jimmies, Heather Bachman recorded 10 kills, Aubrey Beaumont added 21 assists and 4 aces and Nicole Warren had 15 digs.
The loss drops the Comets to 9-15, 2-6 in conference. Mayville State stays at home next week with three games on the slate, starting with Morningside Thursday at 7pm.
