Box Score The Comets Men's Basketball team hosted the UM-Morris Cougars at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. The Comets offense was in top form and proved decisive in the 92-85 victory.
The Comets' offense started slow, as the Cougars zone defense made the Comets a little three-ball happy. Those misses led to an early 15-8 deficit. Mayville State started to move the ball a little better after that and then the triples started to drop. The Comets were able to retake the lead and held on to a 34-33 advantage at halftime. The Cougars once again started strong in the second half and jumped out to a seven point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. The Comets responded with a 15-3 run over the next three minutes to take control of the game. Mayville State expanded the lead to 10 points with three minutes remaining, then survived some Cougar three pointers by hitting their free throws, going 24 for 27 in the second half. Those free throws were crucial in holding off the Cougars 92-85. The Comets took care of the ball as well, as they committed only nine turnovers for the game.
Ben Maranan led the Comets attack with 22 points, including 13/14 from the free throw line.
Daniel Lindgren scored 16 points,
Creighton Pfau added 10 points and 8 rebounds and
