Box Score The Comets Men's Basketball team took on Dickinson State Saturday evening. The Bluehawks shot 51% for the game enroute to an 81-58 win.
Dickinson State's hot shooting started right away, as they jumped out to a 15-6 lead. The teams played relatively even the rest of the first half, and the Bluehawks went into halftime holding on to a 40-27 lead. Dickinson State was 7/14 from deep while the Comets were only 1/6. Mayville State opened the second half on an 11-4 run, but that would be as close as they would get as the Bluehawks put together a 16-5 run of their own to boost the lead to 61-43. The Comets never threatened again, and the Bluehawks cruised to an 81-56 victory. The three point shooting was the difference in the game, as Dickinson hit 10/22 while the Comets only connected on 3/15 shots. The Bluehawks also outrebounded the Comets 36-21.
Garek Droog led the Comets with 14 points, followed by
Ben Maranan with 11.
For the Bluehawks, Marcus White led all scorers with 21, followed by Jerry Shevlin with 16, Ryan Clark with 14 and Terrell Butler with 11.
The loss drops the Comets record to 6-3 overall. Mayville State hits the road as take travel to Minnesota to face the Minnesota-Morris Cougars on Tuesday.
