Box Score The Comets Men's Basketball team hosted Dakota State on Wednesday looking to keep up in a very tightly packed NSAA race. However, The Trojans raced out to an early lead and held off multiple Comet comeback attempts in an 83-68 win.

Mayville State could not get anything going early, and the Trojans capitalized by scoring the first 13 points of the game. The Comets managed to get the lead down to six with 12 minutes to go in the first half, only to see the Trojans boost the lead back up to 20 before heading into halftime up 43-25. The Comets employed a full court press early in the second half to force turnovers, and managed a 17-7 run to chop the lead down to 13. However, the Trojans managed a run of their own to ratchet the lead back up to 20. Mayville State was able to get the lead down to 11 with two minutes to go but Dakota State hit their free throws to quash any hopes of a last gasp comeback and won 83-68. The Trojans shot 54% from the field and dominated the boards 37-24 for the game.

Terrance Lockett scored 17 and added 3 steals to lead the Comets. Jamal Branco contributed 14 and Chuck Robinson added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Kyle Kilgore led five Trojans in double figures with 17 and also grabbed 11 rebounds.  Derek Meger hit 16, Brendon Boomsma and Adam Hofer scored 14 apiece and Tanner Heiser scored 10 and added 7 assists and 3 steals.

The Comets are now 14-10 overall and 4-7 in the NSAA. Mayville State travels to Presentation on Saturday to take on the Saints.
