Box Score The Comets Volleyball resumed their conference schedule by hosting The Presentation College Saints Friday evening. In a very close match, the Comets squeaked out a narrow victory.
In set one, both teams went on multiple point streaks, but the Comets produced more of them in a 25-18 win. The Saints jumped out to an early lead in set two, and maintained that advantage throughout to even the match. Set three was knotted at 19 apiece, but Presentation closed out with a 6-1 run to win. The Comets were up to the challenge, as they methodically ground out a set four win 25-19, finished with four kills by
Hannah Bliss. In the final set, the Saints grabbed the early advantage at 9-6. Mayville State had one more comeback in them, and managed to tie the game at 12. With the Comets clinging to a 17-16 lead, the final point was furiously contented, as both teams produced some amazing shots.
Stephany Wold added the exclamation point with her 20th kill of the match to secure the win 18-16.
Leading the Comets was Wold with 20 kills, followed by Bliss with 16.
Megan Kolness racked up 47 assists and
Sydney Boom added 32 digs.
For the Saints, Maria Nightingale recorded 16 kills, followed closely by Jordyn Dekker with 14. Maddie Goetz added 30 assists, Mallori Rabenberg contributed 24 digs, and Dekker was in on 4.5 blocks.
The win boosts the Comets record to 8-8 Overall, 2-1 in the NSAA. It's a quick turnaround as they host Bellevue Univeristy Saturday with a noon first serve.
