Box Score After a wild conference win Friday night, the Comets Volleyball team had to quickly regroup to face the #18 Bellevue Bruins on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins proved to be too much in a four set victory.
Bellevue quickly jumped out to an early lead and was able to stretch that lead throughout set one, eventually winning 25-15. Set two was almost a carbon copy of set one, this time the Bruins won 26-16. Bellevue rolled up an outstanding .450 hitting percentage in the first two sets. The Comets were able to turn the tables in set three by grabbing their own lead early and managing to hold on to win 25-21. Â Any thoughts of a Comet comeback were quickly dispatched as the Bruins rolled to a 25-19 set four win.
Two Comets reached double figures in kills, with
Stephany Wold collecting 12 and
Joely Christianson with 10.
Megan Kolness added 31 assists,
Jayden Warner and
TaLise Hansen recorded 15 digs apiece and
Whitney Janu was involved in 4.5 blocks.
For the Bruins, Shayla Sanalan led the team with 14 kills, followed closely by Pakalana Helekani with 12. Maddie Squiers racked up 56 assists, Taylor Holz added 15 digs, and Mikaylah Gillespie recorded 4.5 total blocks.
The Comets record now stands at 8-9, 2-1 in the NSAA. Mayville State is back on the road this coming weekend, as they visit Viterbo and Waldorf.
