Box Score The Comets could not hold on to the nationally ranked Bruins this Saturday at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
The Comets scored two points right away in the first set, but it wouldn't take the Bruins long to answer back. The Bruins went on an 8 point run, followed by the Comets 7 point run. The Bruins slowly started to pull away from the Comets, and Fabiola Aviles was able to close the door on the Comets with an ace serve ending the set 25-19.
In the second set the Bruins jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead over the Comets and would not let up, they took advantage of every error made by the Comets. The Comets tried to fight back but were not able to catch up to the Bruins, and the Bruins ended the set 25-15 with a kill by Hope Lambrecht.
The third set started off a lot like the second set, the Bruins got off to 4-0 lead, the Comets scored here and there but were not able to get a good enough rally to catch up to the Bruins. The Bruins would go on to have three, three point runs. Andrea Carson ended all hope for the Comets with a kill to end the set 25-17.
Offensively, Hannah Bliss had a great night for the Comets with 9 kills. Andrea Carson and Shayla Scanlan also had 9 kills for the Bruins.
Mason Hart had 13 digs and Jayden Warner had 11 digs for the Comets defense. Bruins Taylor Holz had 13 digs as well.
The Comets will be hosting Dakota State University on Tuesday, November 24th with Jv at 5:00 PM and varsity at 7:00 PM.
