Box Score It was all Jimmies from the get-go on Friday night at Mayville State's Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. The University of Jamestown was able to build early lead in the first two sets and pull away late in the third to take the match in straight sets, 9-25, 14-25, 18-25.
The Jimmies were able to score the first five points of the first set, capitalizing on errors by MSU. Kills by Kennedy Conzemius and Isabel Wedell brought the lead to 21-4 late in the set, Haley Glasoe was able to shut the door with back-to-back kills to close it out.
The second set saw the Comets fall behind early again with the University of Jamestown taking advantage of errors by MSU, but the Comets were able to string together a stretch of offense late to make it interesting. The Jimmies early lead was too much in the end, with MSU dropping the second.
It ended up much closer in the third set, going back-and-forth early with good offense by both sides. Some nice offense by Jaden Christianson and Cassidy Miller helped the Comets tie the game midway through the set, but the Jimmies were able to string together four straight points late to pull away in the last set, capped off by a Jessica Velander kill.
Makenzie Bring led the team with eleven kills, and Haley Glasoe led the Vikings with twelve kills. Jayden Warner and TaLise Hansen led the team defensively with 16 and 14 digs, respectively. Elise Peterson was able to lead the Jimmies with 20 digs.
The Comets face off again tomorrow against Dickinson State University, first serve is set for noon.
