The Mayville State volleyball team dropped two games today in the first day of the College of St. Mary's Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. The Comets battled all day but weren't able to find their stride to get a victory today against Mt. Marty College in first match and Dakota Wesleyan University in the second.

In the first match of the day, the Comets jumped out and took the first set 25-15, but dropped the next two 17-25 and 23-25. MSU had a great surge for a potential comeback in the fourth set but Mt. Marty was able to shut the door late and win it 26-28.

Cassidy Miller led the team with 24 kills, Jana Mehus led the team with 43 assists, and TaLise Hansen led the way with 21 digs. Jana Mehus and Mason Hart each added 19 and 17 digs respectively.

In the second match of the day, the Comets fell behind early in the first set, but were able to surge back by taking advantage of errors by DWU. MSU had the lead late in the set after consecutive kills by Hannah Bliss, but DWU closed it late after back and forth points late in the set.

Hannah Bliss led the team with 16 kills and Jaden Christianson added nine of her own. Jana Mehus led the way with 35 assists, TaLise Hansen led the team with 25 digs and Mason Hart dug up twelve.

The Comets continue tournament play tomorrow when they play McPherson College 8:00 AM and William Penn at noon.
