Comets set to take on Saints

One week after starting the Jeff Larson era at home, the Comets football team is on the road this week to take on a team they are quite familiar with, having played against them last year, in the College of St. Scholastica Saints, in Duluth, Minn.
Saturday's game against the Saints will mark the first road game in the Larson era, as well as the first game of the season for the Saints, who play in the NCAA's UMAC.
St. Scholastica lost to Mayville State in a tight 33-29 game in Mayville last season. In that game, Mayville State's quarterback, Creighton Pfau, was 20-of-33 passing for 206 yards and four passing touchdowns. He also accounted for Mayville State's lone rushing touchdown in the contest.
This year, Pfau again is under center for the Comets, having a four passing touchdown day of his own in game one last Saturday at Jerome Berg Field.
The Saints will have a new bench boss this season, as Mike Heffernan was elevated to the head coach in December of 2018.
He will take over Saints team that went 6-4 last season.
The Saints return one quarterback from last year's roster, in now-senior Zach Edwards. He was 22-of-47 passing for 308 yards in the game against Mayville State last season. He is projected to be the starter in the game against Mayville State.
