Comet Volleyball travels to Viterbo for conference match Thursday

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State Volleyball team hits the road for the final road conference game of the fall to face the V-Hawks of Viterbo. Due to COVID-19, Viterbo is not allowing any Mayville State fans for the contest, only the immediate family of V-Hawk players and game day personal. Viterbo is doing live stats and video at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/viterbo/index.htm. They will also be tweeting updates during the game on the @viterbovhawks twitter page if you can not watch the contest.

Quick Hit on the Comets:

The Comets head into the midweek conference match up with the V-Hawks with a conference-best 12-2 record and 4-0 in the conference. Mayville State is currently leading the conference in assists, kills, blocks, digs, blocks per set, and digs per set. MSU is averaging 12.6 kills per set, 11.0 assists per set, 20.8 digs per set, and 2.5 blocks per set. Victoria Johnson leads the Comets and conference with 217 kills and 61.0 total blocks. She also is hitting .319 on the season. Second on the team in kills is Elora Passa with 144 kills. She is also the team leader in assists with 272. Rachel Hill is second on the team with 269 assists. Hill has also recorded 108 digs, and 15 kills on the season. Mason Hart is currently leading the Comets in digs with 353 on the season with a .971 serve reception percentage. Amy Seim and Jordyn Lucas have 231 digs and 162 digs, respectively. Ashley Pyburn is second on the team in blocks with 55.0 blocks on the season. The Comets were picked fourth in the NSAA Preseason Coaches Poll with 42 points, Viterbo was picked first with 64 points.

Matching up with the V-Hawks:

The V-Hawks enter this contest against the Comets with a 2-5 overall record and 2-3 in NSAA play. Viterbo is currently hitting .136 on the season with 11.4 kills per set, 10.3 assists per set, 1.4 aces per set, and 16 digs per set. Kenzie Winker is currently leading the V-Hawk attack with 64 kills, while hitting .149 on the season. Chloe Jakscht is averaging 5.2 assists per set during the short season, and Lauryn Sobasky is averaging four assists per set. Rekha Drevlow has 15 total blocks on the season, second on the team is Mariah Calkins with 14 blocks. Adrianna Reinhard has a team-leading 130 digs, averaging 4.8 digs per set.
