How It Happened:
Mayville State started the scoring in the first quarter on a 32-yard field goal with 1:07 left in the first quarter.
At the end of the first half, Maalik Flowers caught a 33-yard pass with two seconds left to take a 9-0 lead heading into the half.
Dakota State scored in 45 seconds to start the third quarter to cut the lead to two.
Mayville State answered with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Tim Salmon to Reece Smith to take a two-possession lead to start the second quarter.
Mayville State finished the game with 126 rushing yards, 193 passing yards, 319 total yards, with both touchdowns coming from the passing game.
Defensively, the Comets allowed 181 rushing yards, 122 yards passing, 303 total yards, forcing two interceptions and one fumble.
