Comet Volleyball finishes season at NSAA Tournament Friday

Watertown, S.D. – The Mayville State Volleyball team defeated VCSU in the Quarterfinals of the NSAA Tournament but would drop the semi-final match against the V-Hawks.
 
Game One:

How It Happened:
The Comets were trailing in the first set of the match when MSU went on a 6-0 run to jump out to a 22-17 lead. It was all squared up at 25 in the first set when a kill from Passa would force an attacking error to take the first set 27-25.
The Second set was tied at 23 when the Vikings would score the next two points to take the second set by a final score of 25-23.
The Vikings would start the third set fast, as the Comets were trailing 10-5 and would fight back and only were trailing by one point at 17-18. The Comets would go on a 7-2 run to finish the third set.
After the Vikings would take the fourth set and forced the fifth set, MSU was in control of the set from the beginning. MSU would start the set 6-2 and would win the final set by a final of 15-6.

Samantha Passa: 15 kills, 13 digs, .212 hitting percentage
Elora Passa: 14 kills, 37 assists, 15 digs
Nicole Kortan: 14 kills, .243 hitting percentage
Natalie Hadrava: 50 digs

How It Happened:
The V-Hawks were up 8-2 early in the first set but the Comets would not let the set go easy as they would eventually tie the game at 24 after fighting off three set points for the V-Hawks.
After MSU would tie the match at 26, the V-Hawks would score the next two points and take the first set 28-26.
Once again, Viterbo was up six in a set but the Comets would close the gap to three but could not get any closer as Viterbo took the second set by a score of 25-21.
The V-Hawks would take control of the third set and win the game 25-17.
Mayville State will graduate five seniors Natalie Hadrava, Rachel Hill, Cora Johnson, Kelli Cashman, and Ashley Pyburn.
