Comet Volleyball loses in straight sets Friday night to #8 V-Hawks

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State University Volleyball team dropped a conference game in three sets on Friday night against #8 Viterbo.

How It Happened:
Mayville State was trailing by two in the first set of the match when the V-Hawks went on a small run to take a five-point lead. MSU would fight right back and would cut the lead right back to one after scoring four points in a row. Viterbo would pull away late in the set and take the first set 25-20.
In the second set, MSU and VU would be tied at 10 when Viterbo would create some separation and take a 17-11 lead. A few points later, MSU would fight back and cut the Viterbo led to two after kills from Pyburn and Passa. MSU was trailing by one at 21-22 but V-Hawks would score the next three points and take the second set by a final score of 21-25.
For the second straight set, the Comets and V-Hawks were tied at 10 before Viterbo would go on a small run to jump out to a 15-12 lead. Mayville State continued to make sets close at the end but could not pull it out and the V-Hawks would sweep the Comets.
Mayville State finished the game with 29 kills, 11 attack errors, and a .194 hitting percentage in the match. They also finished with 4 service aces, 1 block, and 31 digs.
