Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State University Athletics and SAAC opened the Wellness Center doors on Tuesday night and invited everyone and anyone to enjoy Halloween out of the frigid temps.
Head softball coach and SAAC leader, Jordan Olson said, "I think it's important to give the entire community and surrounding communities an opportunity to bring their kids somewhere safe and warm on Halloween. We had over 100 trick or treaters come through and the student athletes loved it." Olson and SAAC had been planning this event all month.
The night consisted of each team having one or two games for trick or treaters to play and then, of course, they handed out candy. Volleyball did face painting and played music; there was corn hole, mini golf, bowling, a basketball shooting station, a football agility station and a baseball target station.
Trick or treaters and families also had the opportunity to take a picture with football players in their game day uniforms.
"Being apart of SAAC means I am able to get involved and do stuff both around campus and in the community," said junior Miquela Pino, SAAC member and current Comet softball player. "This event was so fun to be able to give these kids a fun, warm and safe Halloween. It was also really nice to see all of the kids, athletes and parents enjoy it!"
Head football coach and athletic director Rocky Larson commented, "It was an awesome night to have local communities on campus and being with our student athletes. Our student athletes had a fun night!"
Mayville State Athletics and SAAC look forward to hosting this event again next year.
