Box Score Mayville, N.D. - Comet Football kicked off their 2024 season under the lights at Jerome Berg Field Thursday. Mayville State took on the Montana State-Northern Lights where they won 24-6.
The Comets dominated on defense,
Hudson Stone had two blocked punts and
Dylan LaMont had his first collegiate career touchdown.
NSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year,
Darren Jones, joined the football team this fall. The 6'8'' wide receiver was a 4-star football recruit out of high school and in his debut with the Comets he had 2 big touchdowns.

I am proud of how hard our kids played. Our defense was flying around the field all night. We had a lot of blue hats at the ball every snap."
Offensively we did a nice job developing a run game. JJ Davison had a nice game when we could get him the football in space. It was good to see
Darren Jones get in the end zone in his first start for the Comets.
Special teams is what won us the football game. We blocked 2 punts in the game and one of them for a touchdown.
Hudson Stone provided a huge edge for us all night in the kicking game.
