MAYVILLE, N.D. - The Mayville State Comets Volleyball team delivered an impressive performance Saturday, storming back from a two-set deficit to defeat Carroll College (Mont.) in a five-set thriller, 3–2 (21–25, 25–27, 25–18, 25–18, 15–12) at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
After a sluggish start, the Comets found their rhythm in the third set and never looked back. Junior outside hitter Desidy Schwanke led the charge with 19 kills on a blistering .340 hitting percentage.
Setter Lindsey Nyhagen fueled the offense with 26 assists and three aces, while libero Tori Richter collecting 37 digs to keep rallies alive. This marks exactly 500 on the season for Richter.
The Comets trailed 2–0 in the match after narrowly dropping the second set, 27–25, but came out swinging in the third, hitting .326 as a team. Mayville State's front line controlled the net through sets three and four, forcing a deciding fifth set.
In the final frame, Mayville jumped ahead early and never trailed. Schwanke's late kills and a service ace from Danica Hanson sealed the 15–12 win.
