Football hires Isaac Thompson as next Defensive Backs Coach

Mayville, N.D. - Head Coach Rocky Larson announced on Wednesday the hiring of Isaac Thompson as the new Comets defensive backs coach.

Thompson, originally from Mesa, Arizona, played four years at the University of Jamestown where he was a defensive back himself.

After his four years of playing, Thompson became a graduate assistant for the Jimmies for two seasons. In his first year, he coached an all-conference corner back who had 7 interceptions. In his second year, he coached two all-conference players.

"After going through the interview process it became clear that Isaac was the best man for the job. He has lived in North Dakota for the past six years and has developed great players in his first two years coaching," said Larson. "We are excited to get Coach Thompson on board with us and get to work. We have to replace four starting defensive backs next fall so this was a crucial hire for us and I think we knock it out of the park."

Isaac will start at Mayville State on February 18th. In addition to his coaching duties, he will recruit in the Arizona and North Dakota area for the Comets.
