MONTANA - The Mayville State Comets headed out west to play No. 5 University of Providence & Montana State Northern. Both teams offense would be too strong for the Comets and they would fall in 3 sets both games.
vs. Providence:
The Comets battled to Argos in the opening set but ultimately fell short as the University of Providence swept the match 3-0.
The first set was a thriller, with Mayville matching Providence point for point and pushing the Argos into extra points. The Comets' defense, led by Talimailelagi Cornillez with 18 digs, helped keep rallies alive, while Kathryn Agnew chipped in 6 kills. Despite their efforts, Providence capitalized on late errors to edge out a 29-27 win.
That momentum swing carried into the second and third sets, where the Argos took control. Providence's offense clicked into high gear, led by Bella Green with 10 kills and Franny Martins adding 7. Setter Bella Thompson orchestrated the attack with 37 assists, spreading the ball effectively and keeping Mayville's defense on its heels.
Mayville State struggled to find consistency on offense, finishing with more attack errors (23) than kills (22) and hitting into a negative percentage. The Comets' best success came at the net, where Andrea Majchrzak posted 6 blocks, but it wasn't enough to slow the Argos' balanced attack.
After the tight opening set, Providence dominated the rest of the way, cruising to 25-12 and 25-9 wins in the second and third sets to close out the sweep.
vs. Montanta State Northern:

Mayville State struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the opening sets, hitting just .027 as a team for the match. The Comets tallied 23 kills, led by Cheyann Johnson with six, and fought to stay competitive in rallies with scrappy defense. Tori Richter led the back row with 15 digs, while Desidy Schwanke added 11 of her own.
The Comets showed resilience in the third set, holding leads and trading points with the Skylights in a back-and-forth battle. Tied late at 23-23, Northern capitalized on a pair of Mayville errors to close out the sweep.
