Eric Tonkin

Coach Tonkin begins his first season at Mayville State University as the Defensive Line Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

Coach Tonkin spent the 2017 and 2018 at Chadron State College in Chadron Nebraska. He was an assistant coach, coaching the defensive line and assisting with the special teams. While at Chadron, Coach Tonkin coached three All-Conference performers

Coach Tonkin spent two seasons as an assistant for Robert Morris University working with the Eagles’ wide receivers in 2016, coaching a MSFA all-conference performer. In 2015, Tonkin assisted with the Eagles’ defensive line, coaching two MSFA all-conference performers. While at RMU Coach Tonkin earned a Master's degree in Sports Administration and an M.B.A. in Human Resource Management. Prior to RMU, Tonkin spent six seasons as the offensive line coach at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colorado.

In 2008, Tonkin graduated from Concordia University,-St. Paul with an undergraduate degree in kinesiology. As a student-athlete, Tonkin played two seasons for the Golden Bears, earning NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention as a tight end in 2007. In addition, Tonkin holds Concordia-St. Paul records for single season receptions (56) and receiving yards (683). Prior to St. Paul, Tonkin was an All-Conference and All-Region tight end at Glendale Community College (AZ) during the 2005 season.

Coach Tonkin currently lives in Mayville, ND with his wife Paula.
