Kyja is a graduate of Melrose High School in Melrose, Minnesota where she played volleyball and basketball all four years.

Kyja has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in 2022-23 & 2023-24. She plans to major in Elementary Education.

Kyja is the daughter of Pamela Birch, Father Birch and Lynn (step-mom) Birch. She has five siblings: Brady, Katelyn, Avery, Madi and Ashley.
