Before MSU:
Makenna is a 2026 graduate from Walker Hackensack Akeley High School and is originally from Walker, Minnesota. During her time as a Wolf she played both basketball and volleyball in which she lettered in all four years. She was captain her senior year for both sports and made the All Conference team for both. Her junior year she was named Honorable Mention All Conference for both volleyball and basketball. The Wolves made back to back state basketball appearances in Makenna's sophomore and junior season.

She also competed in track and field her sophomore and junior year and lettered both years. Her junior year her track team was Conference Champions. 

Academically, Makenna made the A Honor Roll all four years of HS.

Makenna is the daughter of Christine & Ryan Oelschlager and has two siblings, Gavin & Kali. She plans to major in Business.
