The Mayville State University women's basketball team won its third straight contest of the year to kick off the 2011-2012 basketball schedule.

Four MSU players finished in double figures as the Comets used a balanced attack to gain the victory. Megan Groen led all scorers with 22 points in the contest, Erin Ericson had 19, Hailey Longtin had 17, and Ashley Holmstrom finished with 11.

Ericson sparked the Comets in the first half after a slow start. The senior guard drained five three-pointers to get the Comets going in the game. Groen and Holmstrom led the Comets with eight rebounds apiece.
