The Mayville State University Comet women's basketball team was in action on Friday, February 4th, 2011 against the Minot State University Beavers at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville.
The Comets were down to seven in the line-up as junior guard
Erin Ericson was sidelined with a concussion. Mayville State started out the game strong hitting their first few outside shots to build an early lead.
Hailey Longtin was a big part of the outside attack tonight going 7-for-9 from three. Longtin led the Comets in scoring with 21 points.
Laura Taylor followed Longtin in points with 19 of her own. Taylor also grabbed five rebounds to lead Mayville State.
Hannah Wenaas scored 15 points and had four assists to round out the bulk of the scoring for the Comets.
Minot State had an outstanding individual performance from Christina Boag. Boag finished with 33 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block. Boag was an incredible 14-for-14 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
Caroline Folven scored 17 points and Sacarra Molina chipped in with 12. Minot State got points from 10 of the 12 that played tonight to stay balanced on offense.
The Beavers shot the ball extremely well tonight shooting 63% from the floor en route to an 111-74 win on the road.
Mayville State will be in action on Saturday, February 5th, 2011 against Dickinson State University. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
